The 10th Annual Old Dominion One Shot Turkey Hunt is April 17-18, 2026 so mark your calendars for an event you don’t want to miss! The One Shot is not only a statewide turkey hunt – it is also a fundraiser to support the hunting heritage in Virginia through land purchases, youth engagement through the Virginia Wildlife Grant Program, and much more!
The Annual Old Dominion One Shot Fundraiser wouldn’t be possible without our hunters, landowners, guides, and sponsors, and the unique partnership between the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and The Wildlife Foundation of Virginia (WFV). The One Shot also provides opportunities to connect with others during the hunter/guide gathering on Friday night and the post-hunt celebration at Bass Pro Shops on Saturday evening. Collectively, we are working together to promote Virginia’s hunting heritage through increased access and youth engagement.
The One Shot Turkey Hunt supports our military and 1st Responder community through offering hunt scholarships to participate in the event. We also engage hunters throughout Virginia who want to hunt some of the most exclusive properties with experienced guides. And like last year, we will have the popular return of the Youth Essay Contest. This year’s topic is “What is your best hunting memory and what did you learn from it?”. Last year, all participating youth at the One Shot received a lifetime hunting or fishing license, provided by very generous sponsors!!
